Russian Kama attracts tariff-hit TBR buyers

Cologne, Germany – Russian tire makers are among the beneficiaries of the EU decision to impose tariffs on Chinese truck & bus (TBR) tires, a Kama Tyres representative indicated at the recent Tire Cologne expo.

On the company’s booth, the Kama spokesman reported “a high level of interest with lots of enquiries” from visitors throughout the international trade fair, held 29 May to 1 June.

The representative, who declined to give his details, linked the spike in interest in Kama’s mid-price-range tires to the prohibitive charges being placed on many TBR tires originating in China.

He went on to comment that the EU decision marked the end of an era of low-cost imports which had driven down process by 60-70% over the past five or six years.

Russia’s largest tire supplier, Kama is the general distributor of tires made by the Nizhnekamsk tire production complex.

Nizhnekamsk, which claims to be is the largest tire maker in the Russian Federation and CIS countries, manufactures Kama and Kama Euro brand tires.
