Zhejiang, China - Zansheng New Materials started trial run of its hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) facilities at Zhejiang-based China New Chemical Materials (Jiaxing) Park in Oct. 2014, and plans to begin full operation in Jan. 2015. The project has received 100 million Yuan (€13 million) investment.
According to Zansheng's website, the project at the 2-kilotonnes-per-annum plant marks the first time a Chinese company has developed its own HNBR production technology.
Zansheng New Materials added that it is the third company in the world to mass produce HNBR, after Japan's Zeon and Germany's Lanxess.
HNBR is sold to China at 230,000 Yuan to 300,000 Yuan (€30,000 to €39,000) per tonne, according to information on the company website.
Zansheng also claims its product has advantages over competitors' products, due to its higher degree of hydrogenation and its own-technology catalyst.
