Early stage wins on Toyo tires in Dakar Rally

Nazca, Peru - Vehicles running on Toyo tires are scoring early victories in the 2013 Dakar Rally, reports the tire maker.
Carlos Sainz of Spain (entrant 303) won the short 13km Stage 1 from Lima to Pisco in Peru in his Team Qatar Red Bull buggy. The owner of the same team, Nasser Al-Attiyah of Qatar (entrant 300), piloted his similar buggy to third place. Both cars were built in California and feature American V8 engines and 37x13.50R17 Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires.
The 2013 Dakar Rally runs from 5-20 January and is nearly 8,000km in length. The route runs southward from Lima, Peru to Santiago, Chile.
