Bridgestone to add 20 percent capacity at Thai PCR plant
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo -- Bridgestone Corp. has said its Thai subsidiary, will increase daily capacity for radial passenger tyres at its plant in Nong Khae by 6000 units by the end of 2010, bringing total daily production capacity there to roughly 36 500 units. Bridgestone said the increase is necessary to meet sales growth in Thailand and export markets. Approximately ¥10.0 billion (Euro 65 million) has been earmarked for the project.
Bridgestone said part of the expansion will be to boost production capacity of UHP (ultrahigh performance) tyres and winter tyres, which are positioned as strategic products in the company's passenger car radial tyre line. These products will mainly be supplied to the export market.
Nong Khae produces radial tyres for passenger cars, which are supplied to both replacement and original equipment for the domestic and export markets in Asia, Europe and North America.
