Rizhao, China – Shandong Dongsheng Rubber Technology Co. is planning a major expansion of its motorcycle tire and reclaimed rubber operations in Ju County, Shandong province.
The company intends to increase annual radial motorcycle tire capacity by 18 million units to 20 million units, according to a second environmental impact assessment (EIA) public consultation.
Dongsheng also plans to add 80 kilotonnes per annum of high-strength, reclaimed rubber capacity, increasing the site's total capacity five-fold to 100ktpa, documents issued 29 Sept show.
The project will make use of existing workshops at Dongsheng's site in the Fulaishan industrial park, Ju County, rather than constructing a new production facility, according to the consultation notice.
As part of the expansion, the company plans to install more than 500 items of equipment, including tire-building and curing machinery, internal mixers, kneaders, extruders and calendering equipment.
The investment will also include rubber-sheet cooling lines, cutting equipment, plasticising and refining machinery, rubber filters and environmental protection equipment.
Despite the significant increase in capacity, the notice said the site's existing production processes would remain unchanged.
Established in 2003, Dongsheng also manufactures rubber processing and tire production machinery, alongside reclaimed rubber and motorcycle tires, according to its official website.
