Bridgestone confirms fourth Chinese tyre plant
Tokyo--Bridgestone Corp. has announced plans to build a fourth tyre plant in China. The new plant will make radial tyres for trucks and buses and is located in the city of Huizhou in China's Guangdong Province. The plant is
scheduled to begin operation in January 2007 and Investment in the Huizhou construction project will total about $300 million, according to the announcement.
The new tyre plant will operate as Bridgestone (Huizhou) Tire Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bridgestone Corp. established on April 22. Bridgestone's plans call for the plant's production capacity to reach 5,000 tyres a day in the first half of 2009.
Bridgestone currently produces passenger car tyres at plants in Wuxi and Tianjin and truck and bus tyres at a plant in Shenyang.
