Natural rubber futures dip in quiet trading
Physical rubber prices holding at a US$0.15/kg premium over spot-month prices
Tokyo – Natural rubber (NR) futures dipped slightly in the second trading week of August as demand and supply remained level over the period.
During the week ended 14 Aug, trading remained “slow and subdued, with prices confined to a narrow range and lacking a clear direction,” reported Japan Exchange Group (JPX) 17 Aug.
Weekly trading volume also declined across all exchanges, said JPX in its weekly NR report.
According to the report, consumer buying “largely matched producer offers,” with physical rubber prices holding at a US$0.15/kg premium over spot-month prices.
In Osaka, Japan, OSE’s January-2027 contract ended the week marginally lower, down 0.1% “in quiet, listless trading.”
In Shanghai, China, meanwhile, SHFE and INE rubber futures closed down 0.5% and 0.6% week-on-week, respectively.
In Singapore, SICOM's active October-2026 contract closed virtually unchanged compared to the week before.
