Acquisition to "significantly broaden" Michelin’s sealing portfolio and market reach
Clermont-Ferrand, France – Michelin has announced plans to acquire US-based sealings specialist Flexitallic as part of the strategy to expand its non-tire ‘Polymer Composite Solutions’ segment.
Based in Houston, Texas, Flexitallic is “a global leader” in sealing solutions providing gaskets to critical sectors such as energy and chemical industry, said Michelin in a 4 Feb statement.
The to-be-acquired business, said Michelin, is “renowned for the reliability and exceptional resistance of its products in extreme environments where safety is paramount.”
Operating across seventeen facilities worldwide, Flexitallic manufactures a range of composite gaskets, sheet products, and speciality filler materials.
The company employs 1,200 people and achieved sales of $220 million (€185 million) in 2025.
“This acquisition would significantly broaden Michelin’s sealing portfolio and market reach, notably by increasing access to the aftermarket,” said Michelin.
Representing a “strong strategic fit,” the addition of Flexitallic can create “strong synergies for future growth,” the group added.
The deal follows earlier acquisition bids by the French group in non-tire operations earlier this year. (ERJ report)
The group intends to introduce PCS as a specific reporting segment in its financial communication this year.
The deal, fully financed in cash, is expected to close in the first half of the year.
