ERJ spotlights leading-edge elastomer/rubber design, materials and manufacturing technologies
HF Mixing Group has introduced a PLC-based downstream batch-tracking system designed to provide continuous identification of rubber batches from the mixer through its Convex twin-screw discharge extruder and batch-off systems to the final pallet.
The standalone system combines thickness, speed and laser-sensor measurements with tracking algorithms to identify batch transitions, including during continuous production.
Tracking information is displayed in real time on the Convex HMI and can be transferred to manufacturing execution systems (MES), labelling systems and other customer applications via standardised interfaces.
According to HF, the system supports traceability and quality control as well as automatic management of abnormal batches, reducing the risk of batch mix-ups.
The technology is compatible with third-party batch-off systems and can be retrofitted to existing Convex or batch-off installations without major mechanical modifications or additional third-party software.
