Mount Pleasant, Iowa – ContiTech AG has announced plans to invest $85 million (€73 million) in its manufacturing operations in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, in order to meet growing market demand.
The expansion programme includes a new “state-of-the-art” compounding centre, which ContiTech said will “integrate production, warehouse and office operations.”
In a 20 Oct statement ContiTech said the investment will strengthen its internal compounding capabilities, optimise its North American mixing footprint and support future growth.
Set for construction in the second quarter of 2026, the facility will feature two mixing lines integrated with an automated warehouse.
According to ContiTech, the mixers have been engineered to withstand “high shear forces and temperatures,” enabling “thorough integration of ingredients.”
“The result is a compound with uniform physical and chemical properties, ready for downstream processes such as extrusion, moulding or calendaring.
In particular, the facility will “significantly enhance” the ability to manufacture essential components, particularly hoses and belts for various industrial applications, said the company release.
ContiTech’s said the investment stressed its commitment to “high-performance, material-based technologies, with a focus on hoses and belts.”
The Mount Pleasant production plant was founded in 1977 and has more than 220 employees.
The expansion is expected to create 50 new jobs.
“This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to the US and the North American markets in general and our confidence in the strength of our team in Iowa,” said ContiTech CEO Philip Nelles.
