Chinese chemicals major announces first tender offer for foundation works at Tianjin facility
Beijing – Sinopec has approved the construction of a ‘green high-end rubber materials’ plant in Tianjin in north China after the foundation design was formally approved, the company has announced in a tender notice.
First disclosed in 2023, the Yuan2.452 billion (€293 million) project includes a production unit for 100 kilotonne per annum (ktpa) solution styrene butadiene rubber and 100ktpa nickel-based butadiene rubber unit.
In a 10 Sept tender announcement for “first pile foundation works”, Sinopec said the project is led by its Beijing Yanshan branch and will be financed with 70% bank borrowing and 30% from company funds.
The project’s first construction tender is valued at Yuan28 million with a planned period of 31 days.
The work covers pile foundation works in multiple factory and utility sections including storage, processing units, and auxiliary infrastructure.
The green rubber project is part of Sinopec’s larger Nangang high-end materials cluster, which also includes its recently commissioned 1.2 million tonnes/year ethylene complex and downstream units.
According to previous tender announcements by Sinopec, the project covers an area of ??277,004m2, with a construction area of 43,522m2 and is set for operation in 2027.
