Trade agency initiates transition reviews into anti-dumping and countervailing measures on TBR tires from China
London – The UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has initiated two transition reviews into anti-dumping and countervailing measures on truck and bus tires imported from China.
The products to be investigated during this review are 'pneumatic rubber tires, new or retreaded, with a load index exceeding 121', the agency announced 3 May.
The duties in question were initially imposed by the EU in 2018 and were later annulled by the European General Court in May 2022.
Amid a legal battle between China and the EU, the UK reiterated that it would continue the duties on the Chinese products as the European court’s decision did not apply in the UK.
The recently-launched review will now determine whether dumping of imported tires or importation of subsidised tires would be likely to continue or recur if the measures were no longer applied.
Furthermore, the investigation will look into whether injury to the UK industry would be likely to continue or recur if the duties are lifted.
The investigation will cover a period from 1 Jan 2022 to 31 Dec 2022.
In order to assess injury, the TRA will also examine the period from 1 July 2019 to 31 Dec 2021.
