logne, Germany – Bicycle tire manufacturer Schwalbe has extended its inner tube recycling programme by launching the initiative in Switzerland.
As part of the initiative, old bicycle inner tubes are collected from bicycle dealers and are recycled using a devulcanisation process specially developed by Schwalbe, said the comany in a 6 Dec statement.
The material can then be used in the production of new inner tubes “without any loss of quality,” Schwalbe added.
The process will be coordinated and handled in Switzerland by Zibatra Logistik AG and participation in the programme is free of charge for all bicycle dealers.
Switzerland is the fifth country, after Germany, the UK, Belgium and The Netherlands, where the programme is being rolled out.
The tire maker launched the recycling programme in 2015 and has since recovered 6 million inner tubes.
