Japanese group continues to streamline portfolio to rebuild earnings power
Tokyo – Bridgestone Sport Co (BSP) is selling all the stock of Bridgestone Tecnifibre Co., Ltd. (BSTF) to Japanese sports equipment manufacturer Yonex Co. as part of its withdrawal from tennis goods business.
Based in Chonburi, Thailand, the operation manufactures and sells tennis balls and had sales of Bhat545 million (€14 million) in 2020, said Bridgestone 6 Dec.
The Japanese group announced its exit from tennis goods business at the end of 2020 as part of the ongoing portfolio restructuring of its diversified products business.
Bridgestone launched its mid-term business plan (2021-2023) in February to focus on core competencies such as tires and solutions and to “rebuild earning power” through expense and cost structure reformation.
“By executing these strategies, Bridgestone is transforming to a ‘strong’ Bridgestone capable of adapting to the changing business environment,” said the group statement 6 Dec.
