Washington – The total US tire shipments in 2021 are set to reach 336.0 million, 10.8% higher than the 2020 levels and 1.0% more than the pre-Covid levels of 2019.
The year-on-year growth will be mainly driven by double-digit increases within the replacement market, while original equipment (OE) demand is set for a marginal increase, according to the latest figures by the US Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA).

Replacement shipments for passenger, light truck and truck tires are also projected to increase by 10.9%, 16.8% and 18.1%, respectively, with a total increase of 31.1 million units over 2020, said a 1 Dec update.
With a significant drop compared to the August estimates, OE tire shipments for passenger, light truck and truck tires are expected to increase by 1.0%, 4.6% and 23.3%, respectively, up 1.7 million units from 2020.
