Move part of previously announced plan to increase production capacity by 30%
Nokia, Finland – Nokian Tyres is increasing production capacity for passenger car tires at its manufacturing facility in Nokia by moving into an uninterrupted five-shift, seven days a week system.
Effective from the beginning of 2022, the new shift pattern will create 80 jobs, for which the recruiting will begin immediately, said Nokian 17 Nov.
"Demand for tires in our main markets has grown throughout the year and continues to be strong,” said executive VP Manu Salmi.
“We are increasing capacity and staff at the Finnish factory for the production of passenger car tires,” he said, adding that the move will ensure the availability of products in the future.
Earlier in August, Nokian switched to four-shifts six days a week production pattern at the Finnish facility as part of a plan to increase production at the site by 30%.
Nokian said the company employed 120 people at its Finland factory in 2021. The planned recruitment for the additional shift will bring the total of new jobs to 200 in just over a year.
