ElectricDrive GT to meet EV load, torque, noise, range, rolling-resistance demands
Akron, Ohio – Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has launched its first replacement tire for electric vehicles (EVs) in North America, the company has announced.
The ElectricDrive GT is billed as "an ultra-high performance, all-season tire that delivers long-lasting tread wear and a quiet ride for EV drivers and passengers."
The tire, said Goodyear, is optimised to meet the specific load, torque, noise, range, rolling-resistance and overall performance demands presented by EVs.
Features include Goodyear’s 'soundcomfort' technology, which acts as a built-in sound barrier that helps reduce road noise.
An asymmetric tread pattern and specialised tread compound are said to provide enhanced all-season traction for enhanced handling in both wet and dry driving conditions.
“With the continued growth in the EV segment, Goodyear recognised an opportunity to provide consumers with a tire designed for the unique needs of these vehicles,” said Andrew Lau, product marketing manager.
“Drivers are looking for a replacement tire that delivers enhanced tread wear without sacrificing performance," the Goodyear manager added.
Goodyear plans to expand the ElectricDrive product portfolio in 2022, after the initial release of the ElectricDrive GT in size 255/45R19 104W XL.
