Vienna – Semperit AG Holding has appointed Karl Haider as its new chief executive officer, effective 11 Jan, the Austrian rubber-based products group has announced.
Haider was most recently chief commercial officer at Tata Steel Europe, one of the world's largest steel companies, said a 10 Jan statement from Semperit.
An internationally experienced manager with a PhD in chemistry, Haider led major M&A transactions at Tata Steel, and served as director operations downstream, the group stated.
Prior to that, he was a member of the board of Voestalpine's high performance metals division, having held sales and project management roles in that group.
“With Karl Haider, we were able to attract a highly qualified leader with extensive experience in large international industrial groups to chair the [executive] board of Semperit," said supervisory board chairman Herbert Ortner.
Haider, he went on to say, is expected to combine his leadership, practical experience and knowledge to lead Semperit in its 'next stage of transformation'.
Haider succeeds Martin Fuellenbach, who resigned prematurely at the end of September 2021. The new CEO's mandate will expire on 31 March 2025.
