Sumitomo sales, earnings fall in Q1

Kobe, Japan – Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd reported lower sales and earnings in the first quarter of 2013, ended 31 March.
Net sales were ¥163.9 billion, down 1.8% from the same period in 2012. Operating income was ¥15 billion, down 6% from ¥16 billion in the three months ended 31 March 2012. Net income was down 10% from ¥10 billion to ¥9 billion.
Sumitomo did not comment on the figures, which were released in a ‘flash report’ on the company’s website.
