Investment in San Luis Potosi set to begin in 2027, according to Korean manufacturer
Mexico City – HS Hyosung is accelerating the expansion of its global advanced materials business in North America through “a major investment plan” in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi, the Korean group announced 25 Sept.
The group signed a memorandum of understanding with the local state government to establish “a key advanced materials production hub” serving North American and global markets.
Hyosung did not clarify what the planned investment will include or specify its value but said the gradual expansion would begin in 2027.
The group went on to list tire cord, airbag materials and mobility interior components as some of the key products across its North American operations in Mexico and the US.
Tire cord, it said, is one of Hyosung’s “flagship, world-leading products,” with the company also supplying automotive customers including General Motors and Goodyear.
“This investment goes beyond establishing a simple manufacturing base,” said Nak-yang Sung, CEO of Hyosung Advanced Materials.
“It reflects our strategy to turn Mexico into a pivotal hub connecting North America with global supply networks.”
