Forbo raises price for polymer emulsion adhesives
By Liz White, ERJ staff
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina-The Synthetic Polymers group of Forbo Adhesives llc will increase prices for its vinyl acetate homopolymer, vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer, vinyl acrylic copolymer, acrylic and styrene butadiene products by 7-15 percent per wet pound.
The increases takes effect 1 Oct or as contracts allow, Forbo said.
This product range includes all the group's Pace, Plyamul and Elvace products, which are sold into adhesive, construction product, nonwoven, carpet and textile uses in North America.
Forbo's statement said this increase is needed following "continuous cost escalations in key raw materials used in the production of these products." The Swiss group-which as well as being a major adhesives supplier also produces rubber belting and flooring-added that it is also having to deal with higher logistics costs due to recent changes in transport regulations, and has to pay higher fuel costs.
