UK rubber boot maker goes into receivership
Dumfries, Scotland - Hunter Rubber Co., manufacturers of a famous (in the UK) brand of wellington boot, has gone into receivership. The company employs 101 people in a plant in Dumfries, Scotland and reported a turnover of around £8.3 million (€12 million) in 2005.
Richard Fleming, Howard Smith and Blair Nimmo, from KPMG's Corporate Recovery practice, were appointed as joint administrators of Hunter Rubber Company on 10 April 2006, by the company's directors. Fleming said, Our first priority is to assess the situation at Hunter Rubber Company, whilst it continues to trade. We will be looking to sell the business and are confident this will be achieved, as the Hunter brand is held in such high esteem worldwide.â€
Fleming added that he expected the company would be sold as a going concern
