NR breaks Rs 90 in India. Global trend static
Kottayam, India - Spot RSS4 rubber in Kottayam, India touched Rs 90 / kg ($2.00) on Tuesday, yet another all-time high in India. Nevertheless prices - in dollar terms - there are still around 10 percent below the global peak set a few months ago.
In Tokyo the benchmark 6-month futures prices closed at 255.6 yen/kilo on Wednesday, two points higher than Tuesday, but still a dozen points off the record close of 267.5 set on 3 Feb. Futures contracts are currently trading at around 250 ¥/kg (around $2.17).
In Singapore RSS3 spot is trading at around 214 US cents/kg some 6 points lower than the record figure of 220 achieved in early February, while the futures contracts closed around 218 US cents/kg, compared with around 220 during Feb. Meanwhile there was no trading at all in RSS1, but the spot price closed down a couple of points at 346.5 Sing cents/kg, just 2 percent off the early-Feb highs, while the 12-month contract closed at a nominal price of 353 Sing cents/kg (US$2.22).
