Hunter rubber boot company is sold.
Dumfries, Scotland -- KPMG's Restructuring practice has completed the sale of the Hunter Rubber business to a consortium of buyers, who plan to continue the manufacture of the Hunter boots in Dumfries.
It is anticipated that all the remaining 64 employees will keep their jobs as the business has successfully transferred to the new owner, a consortium comprising three managers, Jonathan Marland, Peter Mullen and Julian Taylor, together with Pentland Group plc which concentrates on high performance brands in the sports and outdoor sector, with effect from Friday 28 April 2006.
Blair Nimmo, joint administrator and KPMG Restructuring partner said: We are pleased to have completed a sale of the business and assets of the Hunter Rubber Company. This represents a good result for the employees as well the company's creditors and is expected to mean the production of the famous Hunter boots will continue in Dumfries.
We have experienced a great deal of interest in this renowned company since our appointment on 10 April 2006 and have managed an extremely competitive process during which we received more than 100 expressions of interest in the company and 10 offers. Best and final offers were invited from six of these bidders. Now that contracts are signed, and the funds transferred, the move of the business to new ownership has been successfully completed.â€
