Lanxess reports sales, profits up in Q1
leverkusen, Germany - Lanxess got off to a good start in the first quarter, with group sales up 6.2 percent over the same quarter in 2005.
The company's Performance Rubber sector reported sales up by 11.7 percent, to €438 million (2005: 392 million), while operating profit (EBITDA) increased by 26 percent to €71 million. Despite higher revenues, volumes declined by 6.1 percent. Lanxess said it is maintaining its price before volume strategy, and it recorded a price-related sales growth of 12.7 percent. The balance came from currency effects.
