Liberian Government presents report on rubber plantations
Monrovia, Liberia - The Joint Government of Liberia-United Nations Rubber Plantations Task Force has submitted its final report on improving the security and management of the West African country's plantations, some of which are among the largest in the world.
President Johnson-Sirleaf asked the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) to provide security for the plantations and to stop the illegal sale of rubber. She also said illegally occupied plantations should be repossessed, concession and management agreements should be reviewed, and interim management teams put in place where necessary, according to the mission.
