L&T wins contract for Indian expressway
Mumbai, India - The National Highways Authority of India has placed a Rs 7500 million (€129 million) contract to build a 83.3 km stretch of 6-lane expressway from Vadodara to Bharuch in Gujarat.
This stretch of NH-8 forms part of the so-called 'Golden Quadrilateral' and is an important link in the high-density corridor connecting Mumbai and Delhi. The project involves widening of the existing four-lane highway to six lanes, with amenities and support infrastructure. The 15-year concession period includes a construction period of 30 months.
Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) won the contract in an international tender. The Indian company is a technology-driven engineering and construction organisation, and one of the largest companies in India's private sector. It has additional interests in manufacturing, services and rubber machinery.
