NuSil launches low-viscosity, thermally conductive silicone potting elastomer
ERJ staff report (BC)
Carpinteria, California – NuSil Technology LLC has introduced R-2165 silicone potting elastomer as a robust silicone solution for the protection of electronic components and systems such as sensors, relays, and connectors.
R-2165 is grey in colour, pourable, and exhibits moderate thermal conductivity of 0.6 W/mK, according to the company.
It employs platinum addition cure chemistry, for which the company cites minimal shrinkage, no cure by-products, and a cure time that can be reduced by heating.
Bob Umland, NuSil’s marketing and sales director for electronics and engineering, said: “R-2165 is the latest addition to NuSil’s diverse portfolio of silicones designed for potting and encapsulating components [which draw] the high level of power required by many of today’s applications, such as data transfer.”
