ERJ staff report (RN)
Stockholm − Trelleborg Wheel Systems plans to purchase the industrial tire business of Pircher Alfred to strengthen and enlarge its European distribution network, reported Rubber News.
Specialising in the distribution and servicing of industrial tires, such as those used on forklift trucks, the acquired operation has centres located in Milan and Bologna, Italy. The acquisition is part of Trelleborg's strategy to strengthen its positions in profitable market segments with great potential, the Stockholm-based company said.
Financial details were not disclosed.
"The focus of globally leading forklift manufacturers is increasingly shifting toward expanding their presence in local markets," according to Maurizio Vischi, president of Trelleborg Wheel Systems. "This trend suits our business, and we see the potential to successfully develop and expand our interfit service concept for industrial tires."
He said the business has a strong position in the Italian market and has solid profits, adding that it will strengthen Trelleborg's capabilities across the supply chain, from manufacturing to service of industrial tires.
