Nizhny Novgorod, Russia – Rubber chemicals supplier Orgkhim is trying to ban imports to Russia and the production of tires containing carcinogenic compounds.
At the Third International Business Summit in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Orgkhim is presenting a draft ‘technical regulation’ that will “prohibit the import and production of carcinogenic tires in Russia and will ban the marketing of tires, rubbers, rubber products and process oils featuring high content of carcinogenic compounds”.
The regulation has already been approved during the parliamentary hearings in the State Duma (lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia) and is under consideration by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
In June, ERJ reported that Orgkhim had presented this regulation to the Russian government.
The Third International Business Summit in Nizhny Novgorod runs from 10-12 September.
The company added it “has decided to speed up the launch of overseas production sites located in Poland, Singapore and the US” – and reduced deadlines by one to two years.
