Michelin debuts classic tire advice site
ERJ staff report (TB)
Clermont-Ferrand, France − Group Michelin has launched an online reference tool dedicated to its range of tires for vintage and classic cars that offers expert advice on tire selection and a database of more than 2,400 vehicles, reported Tire Business.
The site, www.michelinclassic.com, is available in English, German and French and is intended for now for European customers, although the French tire maker calls it a “global service”.
The site includes phone and email “hotlines” that provide users direct contact with a Michelin expert, the company said.
Among the services available on the site are a catalogue of the Michelin classic and vintage tires available, online ordering options and a dealer locator for the individual’s nearest retailer. The catalog includes Michelin’s portfolio of vintage competition tires.
Michelin said its decision to launch the site reflects its desire to maintain and preserve its living heritage. The tire maker said it maintains a portfolio of vintage and classic tires that “faithfully replicate the design and construction of the era while dialling in modern technological advances in the areas of research and development, manufacturing methods and materials”.
