Conti launches new TPMS device
ERJ staff report (TP)

Frankfurt, Germany – Continental is launching its new VDO TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems) PRO service device this autumn.
The unit uses wireless technology to read TPM sensors, irrespective of whether these sensors are the originally installed devices or have since been replaced. Conti said the sensor manufacturer is “also unimportant”.
The VDO TPMS PRO is equipped with a 4.3-inch (10.92-cm) colour display and is able to determine tire pressure, temperature, battery status or sensor ID “in a matter of moments”.
Conti said the tool not only reads data but can also program or configure unprogrammed aftermarket sensors. This operation is unnecessary in the case of preprogrammed sensors such as the VDO REDI-Sensor and OE sensors.
As of 1 November, every new car in the European Union will have to be fitted with a TPMS.
