Washington, DC -- The Rubber Manufacturers Association has published a new bulletin, “Truck Tire Radio Frequency Identification Passive RFID Tags.â€
The publication discusses RFID, an enabling technology which has become increasingly popular in the domestic and international tyre markets, the RMA said.
The bulletin explains the four ways an RFID tag may be attached to a tyre, identifies the two key memory data storage locations and the kinds of data stored in them, and shows standardised RFID emblem diagrams concerning the use of RFID in consumer and workplace environments.
There are now global standards for the identification information provided by an RFID transponder, either installed during tyre manufacture or attached as an aftermarket installation, the RMA said. The bulletin recommends adherence to global standards which assure consistency and allow for interchangeability of hardware and software, it said.
