China’s September tire exports drop in tonnage but rise in value

Over the first nine months of 2021, the country posted 33% rise in tire exports
Beijing – China exported 51 million 'new rubber tire' in September 2021, up 7% on the same month a year ago, according to official state figures.
Total weight of tire exports in September 2021 reached 590,000 tonnes, down 6% on the previous year, said China’s General Administration of Customs.
The value of exports in September as presented in US dollars climbed 6% year on year, to $1.4 billion.
Over the first nine months of 2021, China exported 438 million units tires, registering a 33% rise from a year ago.
Export value shot up 27% from the same period in 2020, to $12.1 billion. Volumes in tonnage rose by 19% to 5.1 million tonnes.
China’s tire production in September dipped sharply by 15% from a year ago, to 69 million units, said China’s National Bureau of Statistics. In August the number fell by 2%.
Production over the first nine months amounted to 665 million units, up 22% on the same period in 2020.
