Trelleborg acquires US seals distributor VB Seals

Trelleborg, Sweden – Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, part of the Swedish Trelleborg Group, has finalised an agreement to acquire privately owned US-based VB Seals Inc.

Based in Ames, Iowa, VB Seals specialises in the distribution of polymer seals such as O-Rings, hydraulic seals, diaphragms and speciality kitting for original equipment manufacturers in several industries, including agriculture, Trelleborg announced 8 Oct. 

The polymer group said it expected the bolt-on acquisition to expand its presence in Midwest US, noting that the move was part of its strategy to strengthen position in ‘attractive market segments’.

The acquired company reported sales of SEK120 million (€12 million) in 2020, according to Trelleborg.

“VB Seals is a good fit to our culture and business model,” said Peter Hahn, president of the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area.

The company, according to Hahn, works very closely with customers and offers them several value-added services, such as kitting, assembly and materials testing. 

“The acquisition gives us an improved sales and service platform in an important market and further strengthens our ServicePLUS Centre business model,” he added.

ServicePLUS is a TSS programme that covers a variety of enhanced services, including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and aftermarket, to match customers' needs throughout the value chain.
