Elkem appoints Helge Aasen as permanent chief executive

Aasen took over as CEO in June following the departure of Michael Koenig
Oslo – Elkem ASA has appointed Helge Aasen as permanent chief executive of the group, effective immediately, the silicon-based materials supplier announced 18 Oct.
Aasen took over as the interim CEO of Elkem in June following the departure of Michael Koenig.
He also served as CEO of Elkem from 2009 to 2019 and has “a broad industrial experience after working in most of the company’s different functions for nearly 30 years,” said the materials supplier.
“Elkem is currently experiencing exceptional markets and delivering strong results,” said Hao Zhigang, chairperson of Elkem's board of directors.
“Helge knows the company better than most and is the best candidate to drive strong performance in the coming period while also delivering on our strategy,” he added.
