Ferrari has been serving as president and CEO of Bridgestone North America since January last year
Washington – The US Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) has elected Bridgestone North America’s president and CEO Paolo Ferrari as chairman of the board of directors.
Effective 7 Oct, the tenure is for two years, USTMA announced 11 Oct.
Ferrari succeeds Stephen McClellan, president of Goodyear’s Americas business unit, who served as USTMA’s board chair since 2018.
“Paolo’s election as board chair reflects his commitment to ensuring thought leadership, innovation and the sustainable growth of the US tire manufacturing industry,” said Anne Forristall Luke, USTMA president and CEO.
USTMA, she went on to say, expects Ferrari’s “global perspective and experience” to help transform the industry, while addressing post-Covid and environmental challenges.
Ferrari joined Bridgestone Europe in 2016 having led Pirelli Tire North America between 2011 and 2014. Since September 2017, he also served as the chairman of Bridgestone Americas.
He replaced Gordon Knapp as the CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas in January last year.
“Mobility is evolving, and our industry is undergoing a digital transformation, making USTMA’s role more critical than ever,” said Ferrari upon taking the position.
"I am excited to work alongside my peers and leaders in the industry to advance sustainable transportation and double down on environmental stewardship efforts.”
