China reports 89% increase in synthetic rubber exports

Butadiene rubber saw the largest export volume, followed by styrene-butadiene rubber, according to the Chinese industry association
Beijing – China exported 190,000 tonnes of synthetic rubber during the eight months to end of August, representing an 89% increase from a year ago.
Butadiene rubber was the product with the largest export volume, at 63,000 tonnes, followed by styrene-butadiene rubber, which recorded a volume of 44,000 tonnes, according to the China Synthetic Rubber Industry Association.
Meanwhile, the country imported 775,000 tonnes of synthetic rubber duirng the January-August period, down 10% on the same period in 2020, said the association.
The majority of the decrease came from two products: butadiene rubber and butyl rubber.
During the first eight month of 2021, China imported 183,000 tonnes synthetic latex and 347,000 tonnes natural latex, representing 41% and 7% increases respectively from a year ago.
China’s imports of natural rubber during the period reached 1.07 million tonnes, up 21% year on year.
Imports of compound rubber jumped 33% on 2020 to 55,000 tonnes; while the import of natural rubber-synthetic rubber mixture fell by 15%, to 1.92 million tonnes.
