A prototype of spherical concept tire custom designed for the new Citroen ‘autonomous mobility vision’
Brussels – Goodyear and French car maker Citroen have partnered up for a futuristic urban mobility concept, Citroen Autonomous Mobility Vision.
The concept is based on an autonomous, electric multi-directional platform, called “the Citroen Skate” that can host a series of different “pods,” allowing it to cater to a variety of mobility experiences or services.
As part of the project, Goodyear custom designed its spherical concept tire Eagle 360 for the platform, the tire maker announced 29 Sept.
"We are proud to be introducing the prototype of our spherical concept tire as an integral part of the Citroen Autonomous Mobility Vision,” said Hans Vrijsen, managing director, OE at Goodyear.
“The Eagle 360 prototype is compact and its shape makes it agile and maneuverable, ideal for future urban and autonomous mobility solutions.”
Goodyear first introduced the Eagle 360 concept at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2016, following up in 2017 with a second iteration, the Eagle 360 urban concept.
The concept tire, according to Goodyear, delivers 'high maneuverability, while being long-last and maintenance-free.'
