Hexpol to receive €63m compensation for fire at US site

Fire broke out at the group’s rubber compounding plant in Tennessee in January
Jonesborough, Tennessee – Hexpol AB is to receive a total of $74 million (€63 million) in insurance compensation for a fire at its rubber compounding site in Jonesborough earlier this year.
In a 27 Sept statement, the Swedish compounder said the insurance case related to the fire that broke out on 7 Jan at the Jonesborough facility has now been closed.
Total insurance coverage amounts to $74 million, of which $10 million was paid in April.
The balance of $64 million will be paid to Hexpol before the end of October, the group said, adding that the costs for the fire were estimated at $25 million.
