Japanese group revises its procurement policy for sustainable natural rubber
Tokyo – The Yokohama Rubber Co. has revised its procurement policy for sustainable natural rubber to align with the policy framework adopted by the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR).
Effective as of September, the revised policy underscores the Japanese group’s commitment to “a higher level of natural rubber sustainability,” said a 21 Sept statement.
''Yokohama Rubber's compliance with the GPSNR policy framework reflects their commitment to a fair, equitable and sustainable natural rubber value chain,” said GPSNR platform director Stefano Savi.
According to Savi, currently, 50% of the world’s natural rubber demand is represented at GPSNR, and such a move represents a step forward for the industry at large.
