Otrokovice facility claimed to be ‘one of industry’s most technologically advanced sites’
Trelleborg, Sweden – Trelleborg Wheel Systems has completed an expansion project at its tire production plant in Otrokovice, in southeastern Czech Republic, the company has told ERJ.
Following the two-year ‘multi-million-euro’ project, the facility is now “one of the most technologically advanced sites in the industry,” Trelleborg said in a 10 Sept written statement.
According to Trelleborg, the undisclosed investment at the former Mitas plant has increased the site’s production capacity by 50%.
Founded in 2013, the Otrokovice plant had a capacity to manufacture 42,000 tonnes per year of farm and construction tires, according to ERJ’s Global Tire Report 2020.
According to Czech media, the expansion project involved the construction of a 16,000-square-metre hall connected to the existing manufacturing building and involved the transfer of 100 jobs from Trelleborg's nearby Zlín site.
