Expansions totalling 90ktpa to meet rising global demand for protective gloves
Mumbai, India – Apcotex Industries has recently announced a nitrile latex capacity expansion of 60 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) at its existing plant locations in India.
The projects are scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2022, according to a company statement supplied 9 Sept to ERJ
Capacity, it added, will be further expanded by 30ktpa in the next phase as the global demand for nitrile gloves is expected to grow rapidly over the next few years.
The company’s existing plant locations are at Valia, Gujarat, and Taloja, Maharashtra), India.
Apcotex said it has been manufacturing nitrile latex from its current plants for the last couple of years and has developed “unique, high-quality, cost-effective” grades of nitrile latex for synthetic rubber gloves.
The plants will be designed for flexibility to manufacture “a few existing products as required,” added the company.
Apcotex claims to be is one of the leading manufacturers of synthetic latex – styrene-butadiene, vinyl pyridine and styrene acrylic – and synthetic rubber – NBR, HSR and NBR-PVC and NBR powder – in India.
These products are used in paper, paperboard, construction, carpet, tire, textiles, footwear, automotive parts, rice de-husking rollers, hoses and industrial rubber applications.
