Contract for ‘next-generation’ integrated head protection systems worth up to €74m
Melksham, UK – Avon Protection plc has been awarded a contract worth up to $87.6 million (€74 million) over two years to develop and supply the US army with next generation integrated head protection system (IHPS).
The contract replaces a similar award announced in September last year, which was withdrawn following a competitor protest, said Avon in an 8 Sept statement.
The US army, said Avon, has placed an order worth $1.3 million for first article test samples for delivery in the first half of its 2022 financial year, starting 1 Oct.
"I am delighted that Avon Protection will continue to work with the US army to deliver the next generation integration head protection system,” said CEO Paul McDonald.
The contract, he said, demonstrates Avon’s “ongoing commitment” to developing ballistic protection systems and strengthens the company’s medium-term outlook.
