Lion Elastomers returning to normal production at Louisiana EPDM plant

Company idled Geismar manufacturing facility ahead of Hurricane Ida’s landfall more than a week ago
Geismar, Louisiana – Lion Elastomers is carrying out recovery efforts at it is EPDM rubber plant in Geismar following the landfall of Hurricane Ida, and expects to return to ‘fully shipping capacity’ by 7 Sept.
In a 1 Sept update, the company said there were ‘no significant damages’ at the site, which had been safely idled ahead of the storm’s arrival on 29 Aug.
“Once we can confirm a stable return of electrical power and utilities, personnel, and the required feedstocks, we will begin the process of returning to normal production and business operations,” the company said.
Lion also said that it had suffered no loss of inventory due to the storm and expected to begin limited shipments on 2 Sept, with a return to full shipping capability on 7 Sept.
Lion’s Orange, Texas, and Port Neches, Texas facilities, were not affected by the storm and continue to operate normally.
