Trelleborg, Sweden – Trelleborg Group is acquiring the office and industrial properties it is currently using in Kalmar, southeast Sweden, for SEK190 (€18.5 million).
The location is currently used by Trelleborg Sealing Solutions which manufactures noise and vibration-damping systems for light vehicles and brake shims.
Trelleborg said it invested in a new production line at its Kalmar facility in 2019, which significantly increased capacity and improved the work environment.
The land acquisition will further enable the Swedish group to “continue its expansion” in Kalmar, said Johan Persson from the social democratic party and chairman of the municipal board of Kalmar.
“The operation in Kalmar is of global importance to the Trelleborg Group and we believe strongly in its continued success,” said Fredrik Nilsson, CFO of Trelleborg Group.
The purchase of the property, said Nilsson, it as part of Trelleborg’s “investment in the future, to further develop the operation and strengthen our presence in Kalmar.”
