Price increase to address rising costs associated with transport, raw materials
Boston, Massachusetts – Cabot Corp. is increasing prices globally for all Cab-O-Sil fumed and colloidal silicas, and Cab-O-Sperse aqueous dispersions products for all shipments on or after 15 Sept.
Prices will increase by up to 10%, depending on the product grade, said Cabot in a 16 Aug statement.
The US supplier said the price increase was necessary to address rising costs associated with transportation, raw materials and operations across regions.
The increase, it said, will help Cabot remain a “reliable, long-term supplier of high-quality products and services.”
Fumed silica is used as an additive in silicone elastomers, composites, adhesives, coatings, energy storage and consumer goods.
Cab-O-Sperse dispersions, according to Cabot, can improve the mechanical properties of many waterborne polymers and can increase tear strength of
natural rubber and polychloroprene rubber films by up to 65%.
