China’s July tire exports dip in volume
Seven-month export and production figures remain well above 2020 levels
Beijing – China exported 47 million ‘new rubber tires’ in July 2021, down 0.1% compared to the same month a year ago, official state figures show.
Total weight of tire exports in July 2021 fell by 9% on the previous year, to 540,000 tonnes, said China’s General Administration of Customs.
The value of exports in the month, as presented in US dollars, increased 2% year-on-year, to $1.3 billion.
Over the first seven months of 2021, China exported 333 million units tires, registering a 37% rise from a year ago.
Export value shot up by 34% from the same period in 2020, to $9.2 billion. Volumes in tonnage increased by 27% to 3.9 million tonnes.
The country’s tire production in July contracted 0.4% from a year ago to 73 million units, said China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
Production over the first seven months totaled 522 million units, up 26% from the same period in 2020.
