UK remains China’s largest export market for passenger car tires

US still the largest customer for truck/bus tires, official data also shows
Beijing – China exported 118 million units of passenger car tires over the first half of 2021, worth $2.9 billion. The weight of those exports was 1.1 million tonnes, said China’s General Administration of Customs.
The UK was China’s largest overseas market in value terms during the period, with $204 million worth of goods shipped. Saudi Arabia was in second place with $134.2 million, neck-and-neck with Australia, which recorded $134.0 million.
In the first half of 2020, the UK was also in the first place with $153 million goods shipped, followed by Germany with $95 million.
China’s truck/bus tire exports during the first six months of 2021 amounted to 51 million units, worth $3.7 billion. By weight, these exports were recorded at 1.8 million tonnes.
The largest truck/bus tire market during H1 2021 was the US, with $276 million worth of exports shipped. Mexico was in the second place with $201 million.
Saudi Arabia was in third place with $168 million, compared with the second place in H1 2020, according to the Chinese agency’s data.
The profile of top 10 export countries – also including UAE, Philippines, Nigeria, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Malaysia – was about the same as a year ago, for both tire types.
