Increase due to higher operating costs related to recently installed emissions control systems
Houston, Texas – Orion Engineered Carbons is increasing prices on all carbon black products manufactured in North America.
Effective 15 Sept, or as permitted by customer contracts, the company is adjusting base prices and environmental surcharges for carbon black by $0.08 per pound, said a 16 Aug announcement.
The hike, said the company, is due to higher operating costs related to recently installed emissions control systems and the associated capital investments required to maintain service levels.
In addition to the increase, Orion said it will adjust service charges, payment terms and volume rebates to reflect higher logistics costs, capital commitments and reliability expectations.
The supplier said the move will enable it to further improve safety and sustainability in its carbon black production processes.
“We affirm our commitment to be a reliable, long-term global supplier of high-quality carbon black products and services to our customers,” it concluded.
